Why we are so passionate about what we do.

As tail-end baby-boomers, Janet and I were both born in 1964. We grew up in separate suburbs of Los Angeles and both graduated from High School in 1982. Janet graduated from college with a degree in Dental Hygiene. I pursued studies in Nuclear Physics which eventually led to a commission as a Naval Officer immediately followed by nuclear power and submarine training. We met in 1987 at a wedding where I was Best Man and Janet was Maid of Honor. We married four years later and settled in Hawaii where my current submarine was stationed.

For the next several years, we moved from one Navy town to the next until we both began to realize that we wanted something different. In 2000 I resigned my naval commission. The arrival of the first of our two children had shifted both our concerns. Domestic matters of health and happiness were now the focus. We became students of a practical, more encompassing approach to a happier life. Within a couple of years, a variety of issues from what the family ate to how we spent our days began to merge with a growing entrepreneurial drive. We decided to partner in business as well as life - a company that would embrace our shared project to carve out a better way of living. Thus began MarkAndJanet.com.
